Tint and cut, together. The Ruby Star-Cut wears the same radiating star-point belly pattern and leaf-band shoulder collar as our Star-Cut Clear — laid into a saturated ruby tint instead of clear glass. Light catches the cut edges twice over: refraction through the cuts, glow through the colour. Pattern banded to the belly, neck stays clean. The red one in the cut-glass family.

Ruby Star-Cut Russian Shisha Vase — Tinted Cut Glass, 45mm Russian Fit
Why This Shisha Vase
- Saturated ruby tint. Deep red colour set into the glass at the molten stage — translucent enough to glow when backlit, dense enough to hold its colour against any tray finish. Reads warm and substantial against a brushed steel or matte black stem.
- Radiating star-cut belly motif. Crossed straight cuts forming a field of four-point star shapes across the lower body. Light catches each cut individually, but the pattern reads ordered — geometric, repeating, deliberate. Same cut motif as our Star-Cut Clear, in ruby.
- Leaf-band collar at the shoulder. A neat row of small almond-shaped cuts encircling the belly-neck transition. Acts as a finishing band — separates the patterned belly from the clean upper neck and gives the silhouette a defined shoulder line.
- Pattern as an accent, not a coat. The upper neck stays plain, the lip rolls clean. Decoration is intentionally banded — restrained where the heavy-cut tier goes maximalist. The cuts read sharper against the ruby tint because the colour drops away inside each pressed groove.
- Russian-standard 45mm neck. Pairs with any standard 45mm base grommet for a compressive seal across modern Russian-spec shisha pipes.
- Substantial wall thickness. Pressed-cut work needs glass mass to hold the cut shape cleanly — this base sits weighty in the hand, stable on the table, and built for the daily wear of a session vase.

Fit & Compatibility
- Designed for: Russian-standard shisha pipes with a 45mm vase neck and grommet seal.
- Pairs cleanly with: Hoob (Mars, Classic, Professional grommet lines), Maklaud, Alpha, Conceptic, Geometry, Union, Japona, VZ, Mattpear, DSH, Soft Smoke, plus modern German and Polish brands using the 45mm grommet standard (Aladin modern, AMY Deluxe Russian-spec, Wookah, Dschinni, Neolux).
- Will not fit: Egyptian threaded stems (Khalil Mamoon, Shika, Sahara), magnetic-lock-only stems (Hoob Atom and similar), proprietary clamp systems (Steamulation Ultimate Gen II), or sealed glass-body designs (Oduman N-series).
- Base grommet not included. Pair with a 45mm shisha base grommet for a clean, airtight seal.
How to Use It
- Insert the grommet: Press your 45mm base grommet flush into the vase neck.
- Wet the seal: Lightly dampen the grommet — it eases the stem in and protects the rubber.
- Seat the stem: Lower with a gentle quarter-turn. The down-spout should sit ~15–20 mm below the water line.
- Fill water: Cover the diffuser/down-port by 10–15 mm. Adjust to taste.
- Pull-test: Block the hose mouthpiece and pull. No bubbles = airtight.
Care & Maintenance
- Rinse with lukewarm water after each session — never hot on cold glass, never cold on warm. Cut-glass dislikes thermal shock.
- Cuts are shallow and concentrated on the belly — they rinse out cleanly with a normal shake-and-pat dry. Tinted glass shows water marks slightly more visibly than clear, so a quick rinse straight after each session keeps the finish crisp.
- For deeper cleans, use a soft bottle brush with mild detergent or a dilute lemon-and-bicarb soak. The ruby tint is fused into the glass and will not lift with cleaning.
- Dry the neck before re-seating the grommet — trapped moisture squeaks the seal and shortens grommet life.
- Store on a flat, level surface. The Russian flare base is stable, but a soft mat under the body prevents knocks during cleaning.
- Avoid alcohol-based cleaners — they can dull glass over time. Citric acid soaks are fine for limescale.
Quick Fixes
- Air leaking on first pull? Re-seat the grommet — uneven insertion is the usual culprit. If it still hisses, try a thicker grommet.
- Stem sitting loose? Grommet's undersized — step up a thickness.
- Stem won't seat fully? Grommet's oversized — step down a thickness.
- Cuts looking dull or filmy? A short citric acid soak (one tablespoon in warm water, 30 minutes) clears mineral deposits without abrasives.

FAQ
Will this fit my shisha pipe?
If your stem inserts into the vase via a 45 mm rubber or silicone grommet, the Ruby Star-Cut is built for that standard. Modern Russian, German, and Polish shisha pipes overwhelmingly use this fit. If your stem screws onto the vase (Egyptian style) or uses a brand-specific magnetic-only or clamp connector, it will not seal here.
How is this different from the Star-Cut Clear?
Same cut motif, same Russian flare body, same shoulder-banded placement of the pattern. The only meaningful difference is the glass colour: clear on one, saturated ruby on the other. The cuts read slightly sharper against the ruby tint because the colour drops away inside each pressed groove, but mechanically, optically and structurally these are siblings. Pick on whether you want the tint or the clear; the cut-glass character is identical.
How is this different from a plain Smoke or Purple base?
The Smoke and Purple bases are plain tinted glass — single-colour, smooth surface, no cut work or decoration. The Ruby Star-Cut takes the same plain-tint approach a step further with the radiating star-cut belly motif and leaf-band shoulder collar. Same tier, same Russian flare body, just adds the cut-glass decoration on top of the tint. Customers who want quiet pure colour stay with Smoke or Purple; customers who want colour plus a cut-glass texture land here.
Is this lead crystal?
No. The Ruby Star-Cut is pressed glass with a cut star pattern and a tinted ruby base. True lead-crystal hookah vases sit well above $400 in the Australian market. This piece delivers the cut-glass aesthetic in colour at an accessible tier, without making any claims it cannot back up.
